BMT Battle of the Bands 11
April saw the conclusion of the 11th edition of Battle of the Bands, organised by Bucks Music Trust. Over 30 bands entered, featuring more than 120 young musicians from across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, but ultimately just 10 made it to the final at Wycombe Swan.
For the first time, every finalist performed at least one original composition, showcasing the growing confidence and creativity of the young musicians involved. The bands impressed an expert judging panel including John Leckie (legendary record producer) and Peter James (VP Global Business Development at Shure microphones), while audiences also enjoyed performances from previous winners Scarlett and local professional band San Demas.
Despite fierce competition, the atmosphere remained supportive throughout night, highlighting the positive community that has developed around the event. The Mango Sundays were crowned winners and will now record a single and music video as part of their prize.
You can catch The Mango Sundays performing at Bucks Music Trust’s Summer Festival on Sunday 5th July, as well as MK Art in the Park on 6th June. Look out for fellow finalists Offbeat and Kalm at Wycombe Arts Centre, Clear Air Turbulence at Parklife in Aylesbury on 27th August, and The Campus and Offbeat at Kop Hill Climb festival on 12/13th September.
